The Seattle Seahawks are off to Super Bowl XLVIII, after getting past the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 in the National Football Conference championship game. Seattle was down 10-0 but came from behind to win. Quarterback Russell Wilson attempted 25 passes, while completing 16, for 215 yards and one touchdown. Seattle will be making their second Super Bowl appearance. The Seahawks will face the Denver Broncos who got past the New England Patriots 26-16 in the American Football Conference championship game.
I think Seattle will win by three.
In NCAA Basketball, the No. 6 Florida Gators beat the Auburn Tigers 68-61 in a close game. The Gators are in first place in the South Eastern Conference.
In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers got past the Detroit Pistons 112-103 in a close game. The Clippers are in first in the Pacific Division.
In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks beat the Vancouver Stealth 15-12 but they also lost to the Edmonton Rush on Friday. Calgary’s record is 2-2 and they are in second place in the West Division.
In the AHL, the Binghamton Senators took out the Syracuse Crunch 6-3 in a one-sided game. The Senators also beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 6-2. Binghamton is in third place in the Eastern Conference.
In the OHL, the Windsor Spitfires beat the Sudbury Wolves 3-1 in a good game. Windsor also beat the Plymouth Whalers 6-2.
In the WHL, the Regina Pats got back into the win column by beating the Prince Albert Raiders 4-2. But the Pats were previously embarrassed by the Kootenay Ice 6-1.
In the NHL, the Ottawa Senators lost to the New York Rangers 4-1 in a one-sided game. The Sens are in sixth place in the Atlantic Division.
In the English Premier League, Manchester United lost to Chelsea 3-1. Man U’s record is 11-7-4 and they are in seventh place in the league.
