Severance package much be announced

Dear editor,

Sometime ago our city council released our City manager.

Rumor had it our mayor was not going to leave a rock unturned and he would be making a statement regarding the reasons and the amount of the severance that would be paid.
To date, very little is being said, only a bunch of nothing about other things that are mostly known anyways. To say only the City is going in a different direction and leave it at that is a strike against the people that elected this new council.

Do not belittle us, as four years goes by very quickly. It was nice to see you had enough balls, so to speak, to release the manager, and the citizens let out a sigh of relief when it was announced. Some even shouted "Hip Hip Hurrah." What is the reason that nothing is being said on the severance package? 

We have a right to know now, as we the people are paying for it today, tomorrow and for years to come, as I understand it.
This is not a rookie council. There is an 18-year veteran, a 12-year veteran and a six-year veteran. One is in his second term, and two have experience in this sector for several years. I had one ex-councillor say when the good times are here, a raise is warranted, and when they fade away not so. I hope getting a bang for our buck is present for a long time.
Very few people of the city were unhappy with your decision to let Puffalt go. Show them some courtesy and explain the severance package and reasons for his release.

Editor's note: The settlement has been reached between the City and Puffalt. Confidentiality agreements prevent the settlement figure from being released, but according to the City manager's bylaw, it stipulates one month salary for each year of tenure, which would amount to about $130,000.
