Sharks return to the pool

Comments

The Estevan Sharks water polo teams returned to action following the Christmas break by competing at tournaments in mid-January.

The cadet team went 2-1 at their tournament on January 18 in Regina. Wins came against Weyburn and Saskatoon, but they lost to Regina. Coach Kim Marshall said she was pleased with the results of the tournament, and the effort from all of the players.

The atom girls won a tournament in Weyburn on January 19, as they swept all three of their games. They defeated Regina 8-2, and then beat Weyburn in back-to-back games, winning 8-5 and 8-0.

The atom boys played in their first tournament in Weyburn on the 19th. Up to that point, they had been playing in the mini-atom league. Their coaches, Mona Hack and Dave Dzeryk, felt that this team had progressed enough to join the older league. They reached the tournament's semi-final, which they lost 10-2 to Regina. (Results of their other games were not available).
