Only a handful of games remain in the Big 6 Hockey League's 2013-14 regular season.
The Bienfait Coalers continue to be the league's pace-setters, as they have clinched top spot in the overall standings. Bienfait (15-0) defeated the Redvers Rockets 5-3 on January 17, and then beat the Midale Mustangs by the same score on January 18.
Midale (9-5-1) is clinging to second spot. They had a five-game winning streak snapped in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Wawota Flyers on January 17. Then they rebounded to beat the Arcola-Kisbey Combines 5-2 on January 18, before suffering the loss to Bienfait.
Wawota sits third at 8-6-1. Not only did they beat Midale, but they upended the Carnduff Red Devils 6-4 on January 18.
The Oxbow Huskies (7-9-1) moved into fourth with a 5-4 victory over the Arcola-Kisbey Combines on January 21. The win ended Oxbow's seven-game losing streak.
Oxbow's previous game was an 8-6 loss to Carnduff on January 17.
Arcola-Kisbey (6-9-1) sits fifth with 13 points. Carnduff (6-9) is sixth with 12, and Redvers (3-9-3) is seventh with nine. Six points separate fourth from seventh.
Seven games are scheduled from January 24 to 29. Redvers will visit Midale and Wawota travels to Bienfait on the 24th. Midale will be at Wawota and Carnduff will host Redvers on the 25th.
Arcola-Kisbey plays at Bienfait and Wawota visits Carnduff on the 28th. And Arcola-Kisbey will host Bienfait on the 29th.
