Vocal ensemble musica intima will be performing in Estevan on Thursday, January 30, as part of the Estevan Arts Council's Stars for Saskatchewan series.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church.

The ensemble is internationally renowned for their warm and engaging stage presence, musicianship and unique perspective on ensemble singing.

They are distinctive because the singers rehearse, perform and function as a collective. In rehearsal, musica intima members self-direct, so they exchange ideas freely while exploring their own musical creativity. During performances, they engage the audience with a spontaneity and directness all their own.

Founded in 1992, musica intima has become an integral part of Vancouver’s cultural fabric. The ensemble has been involved in recording projects with artists as diverse as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, composer Owen Underhill, and rock musician Matthew Good.

Their albums have received many awards and they have been nominated for two Juno Awards.

It will be the second local concert through Stars for Saskatchewan in the 2013-14 season, and the first performance since mid-November.
