Patriots move on


The New England Patriots are off to the American Football Conference championship after taking out the Indianapolis Colts 43-22 in a one-sided game. Patriots' running backs LeGarrette Blount rushed for 166 yards and four touchdowns, and Stevan Riddley rushed for 52 yards and two touchdowns. The Patriots will now face the Denver Broncos.

Other scores from divisional round were: the Seattle Seahawks beat the New Orleans Saints 23-15, the San Francisco 49ers got past the Carolina Panthers 23-10 and the Broncos took out the San Diego Chargers 24-17.

In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers slammed their rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, 123-87 in a one-sided game. The Clippers are in fourth place in the Western Conference.

In NCAA Basketball, the No. 7 Florida Gators got past the Arkansas Razorbacks 84-82 in overtime. The Gators are tied for first in the South Eastern Conference.

In the NHL, the Ottawa Senators got past the Nashville Predators 2-1 in a shootout. The Senators are in sixth place in the Atlantic Division.

In the WHL, the Regina Pats hammered the Saskatoon Blades 6-2 in a one-sided game. They also got past the league-leading Calgary Hitmen 3-2. Regina is tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference.

In the OHL, the Windsor Spitfires lost to the Erie Otters 9-0 in a lopsided game. The Spitfires also lost to the Niagara Ice Dogs 5-4 in overtime. Windsor is in fifth place in the Western Conference.

In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks edged the Colorado Mammoth 13-11. The Roughnecks record is 1-1, and their next game is against the Edmonton Rush.

In the English Premier League, Manchester United beat Swansea 2-0 in a close game. Man U’s record is 11-6-4 and they are in seventh in the League.
