The Estevan Apex Midget AA Bruins won two league games on home ice, as they shelled the Melville Millionaires 10-4 on January 10, and beat the Notre Dame Bantam AAA Hounds 6-4 two nights later.
Estevan scored four times in each of the first and third periods to rout the Mills. Kyle Salaway assisted on six of the goals. Colton Winton had a hat trick, Kaelan Holt contributed two goals and three assists, and Bailey Lonsberry added two goals and an assists.
Cole Piche, Matt Bill and Kolten Ganson had the other goals.
Landon Audet was in goal.
Salaway (two goals and an assist) and Holt (two goals) also had big games against the Hounds. Ganson and Winton also scored for Estevan, who trailed 2-1 at one point in the first, but scored twice late in the opening frame to take a 3-2 lead, and never looked back.
Tanner Tytlandsvik was in goal.
In provincial play, Estevan lost 4-2 to the Notre Dame Argos in Game 1 of a two-game, total-goal provincial series on January 15 at Affinity Place.
Kaelan Holt opened the scoring late in the first period for Estevan, but Notre Dame scored three times in a 2:23 span of the second period to take a 3-1 lead. The Hounds extended the lead to three goals with a tally early in the third.
Colton Winton responded for Estevan 78 seconds after Notre Dame's fourth goal. Estevan pressed to draw closer, but the game ended with Estevan facing a two-goal deficit in the series.
Tanner Tytlandsvik was in goal.
Estevan's league record is 13-8-3. They'll visit the Regina Wild on January 18 in a league game, and then visit the Argos for Game 2 of their provincial series January 19.
The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins scored five times in the third period to pull away from the Notre Dame Hounds, and win 7-3 on January 12.
Cole Fonstad (two goals and two assists) and Brady Long (four assists) had four points each, while Brayden Pachal (two goals and an assist) and Jayden Davis (a goal and two assists) had three point games.
Josh Skjonsby and Hayden Cutler also scored for Estevan.
Jeremy Dumaine was in goal for the win.
Estevan is unbeaten in their last seven league games.
The Bantam AA Bruins' record is 12-7-3. They'll visit the Regina Pat Blues on January 18, then host the Sask. Valley Vipers on January 19 at 2:15 p.m., and the Yorkton Terriers on January 21 at 7:45 p.m. Both home games will be at Affinity Place.
The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins beat the Moose Jaw Warriors twice: once in league play, and once in provincials.
Estevan won 3-1 in the league game on January 11 at Affinity Place. Jake Palmer and Mason Strutt scored in the first period to give Estevan a 2-0 lead, but Moose Jaw scored late in the frame to halve the deficit. The game remained at 2-1 until the final minutes of the third, when Strutt scored his second of the game.
Justin Hertes was in goal.
Estevan then edged Moose Jaw in Game 1 of their two-game, total-goal provincial series. Cody Davis scored in the first period to give Estevan a 1-0 lead, and Josh Romanyk doubled the lead with a goal in the second. Moose Jaw scored in the third to cut the deficit in half for the game and the series.
Bryson Garton was in goal for Estevan.
Game 2 is scheduled for January 16 in Moose Jaw.
The Peewee AA Bruins' record in league play is 4-9-2. Their next league action will be January 18 and 19 in Melville against the Millionaires.
The Estevan Gem Well Atom AA Bruins had a tie and a loss in league action against the Moosomin Ice Badgers.
They tied Moosomin 6-6 on January 11, and lost 5-3 the following day. Both games were in Moosomin.
