The North Dakota State Bison are champions again in the NCAA Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), as they smashed the Towson Tigers 35-7 in yet another one-sided game. This is the Bison’s third straight national title. In the playoffs, the Bison outscored their opponents 173-42. North Dakota State will be going after their fourth title next year, but they will have to do it under a new head coach. Craig Bohl, who had a record of 104-32, was hired away by the Wyoming Cowboys as their new head coach. Defensive coordinator Chris Klieman becomes the Bison's new head coach.
In the NFL, the San Diego Chargers got past the Cincinnati Bengals 27-10 in the wildcard round. The Chargers will now take on the Denver Broncos in the next round.
Other scores were: the San Francisco 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers 23-20, the New Orleans Saints beat the Philadelphia Eagles 26-24 and the Indianapolis Colts got past the Kansas City Chiefs 45-44.
In the WHL, the Regina Pats lost to the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3 in overtime in a close game. Regina is tied for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
In the OHL, the Windsor Spitfires lost to the Kingston Frontenacs 4-2 in a one-sided game. Windsor is in fifth place in the Western Conference.
In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks lost to the Toronto Rock 16-11 in a good game. The Roughnecks record is 0-1 and their next game is against the Colorado Mammoth.
In NCAA Basketball, the No. 10 Florida Gators beat the Richmond Spiders 67-58 in a close game. The Gators are in third place in the South Eastern Conference.
In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers lost to the San Antonio Spurs 116-92 in a lopsided game. The Clippers are in fifth place in the Western Conference.
