The Estevan Apex Midget AA Bruins split their first two games following the Christmas break, as they defeated the Weyburn Wings 3-1 on January 4 at Affinity Place, but lost 6-5 on the road to the Regina Flames on January 6.
Kolten Ganson opened the scoring for Estevan against Weyburn; it was the only goal in the first two periods. Riley Giblett's goal in the third upped Estevan's lead to 2-0. Weyburn cut the lead in half a few minutes later, but Kaelan Holt scored for the Bruins with two minutes to play to clinch the victory.
Landon Audet was in goal for the victory.
The Flames scored early in the first period of their game with Estevan, and had a 4-2 lead late in the second, but Estevan scored twice in the final minute of the middle frame to tie the game. Regina then outscored Estevan 2-1 in the third.
Kale Little scored twice for Estevan. Holt, Bailey Lonsberry and Dayton Westerman had the other Estevan goals.
Tanner Tytlandsvik was in goal.
The Midget AA Bruins have an 11-8-3 record. They will host the Melville Millionaires on January 10 at 8 p.m., and the Notre Dame Bantam AAA Hounds on January 12 at 5 p.m. Both games will be at Affinity Place.
The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins scooped up three of a possible four points in their first two games following the Christmas break, as they tied the Regina Silver Foxes 3-3 on January 4 and beat the Moose Jaw Warriors 4-1 the following day.
Both games were at Affinity Place.
Cole Fonstad had two goals and an assist for Estevan against Regina. The Bruins led 3-1 early in the third period, but Regina scored twice in four minutes to tie the game.
Fonstad also tallied twice and assisted on another in Estevan's win over Moose Jaw. Shae Little and Josh Skjonsby had Estevan's other goals.
The Bruins scored once in each of the first two periods to lead 2-0. Moose Jaw scored early in the third, but Estevan responded with two more goals to pull away.
Ethan Veroba was in goal for Estevan for both games.
The Bantam AA Bruins' record is 11-7-3. They will host the Notre Dame Hounds on January 12 at noon at Affinity Place.
