Estevan’s Terry Naka was a big winner on a Saskatchewan Lotteries’ hockey pools ticket, as he won $16,935 in late 2013.

After tracking scores through a sports ticker on his phone, Naka decided to check his ticket the next morning. He returned to the store he bought it from – the 7-Eleven Food Store on Fourth Street in Estevan.

“I thought I was missing a game,” Naka said of his predictions.

But it turns out he had accurately predicted all 10 games, and his ticket was the sole winner of the prize.

“My eyes went all blurry when the numbers came up on the scanner,” Naka said. “I was shocked. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”

After checking his ticket a few times, he took it to the counter for the retailer to confirm his victory

Naka plans to save his winnings, and he’ll give some thought as to what he’d like to do with his windfall.
