Council members had good attendance

Comments

Members of Estevan City Council had strong attendance records in 2013, according to the annual attendance report filed by the City of Estevan.

Councillors Greg Hoffort and Lori Carr had perfect attendance last year, as they attended all 33 meetings. Councillor Brian Johnson, meanwhile, was late for just one meeting on May 1.

Two other councillors, Dennis Moore and Kevin Smith, missed just one meeting each in 2013. Moore was on vacation during the August 14 meeting, while Smith was on holidays on April 3.

Mayor Roy Ludwig missed two meetings – one on August 26 and the other on October 28. Both were due to vacations.

Former councillor Chris Istace, whose resignation took effect on January 1, missed the most meetings, but only had four absences. He missed the sessions on May 6 and August 26 because he was working, he didn't attend a budget meeting on December 4, and he was absent on December 16 because of a vacation.

Council had 34 meetings last year, with 24 in open, nine committee planning meetings and the one budget session. All seven members were present for 24 of the meetings. The August 26 meeting was the only one in which at least six council members didn't attend.
