Estevan Police Service members received a call on Sunday from a female who requested immediate assistance at her residence. When police arrived, she stated that everything was alright. Apparently, there were some unwanted guests who would not leave until she called police.
An anonymous call was received on Saturday that a male and a female were fighting outside of a residence in west-central Estevan. When police spoke to the parties involved, it was determined that the male was intoxicated, and he was subsequently arrested for causing a disturbance.
A 44-year-old male was arrested for impaired care and control of a vehicle, and refusing to provide a breath sample. He was located in the vehicle's driver's seat in a business' parking lot. The caller reported that he had been sitting there a long time and appeared to have passed out at one point.
Police responded to a distressed female who called for assistance. The young girl met with police, who determined that she was extremely intoxicated. The female asked to be taken to a different residence, and had to be removed from that residence as well because of her level of intoxication.
Police responded to false alarms at two local businesses on Friday night, and were kept busy with traffic enforcement incidents.
A 29-year-old male was issued a 24-hour driving suspension.
A 20-year-old year old male was arrested on numerous charges. A witness called in a hit-and-run and gave police information on the driver’s location. The driver was extremely intoxicated and was charged for failing to remain at the scene of an accident, impaired driving, obstruction and dangerous driving. He will answer to the charges on March 3.
A male complainant advised police that he was assaulted by three male subjects that were walking on the road. The driver got out of his vehicle and asked the males to move aside. The alleged assault then took place.
A traffic stop was initiated in central Estevan by police on January 1, which resulted in a 28-year-old male being arrested for providing false identification. As a result, he was transported to the police station, where he was charged with obstructing a police officer and also driving while suspended under the Traffic Safety Act. He will make his first court appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on February 24.
Police responded to a number of calls on December 31. Officers pulled over vehicle and arrested a male for possession of a controlled substance
They were also called to a noisy party. The owner was warned about the noise.
Members were called to the north end of the city because a female was damaging a car. She was found a short time later and lodged in cells until sober, and will appear in court on a later date in regards to the willful damage.
Members also received a call of a stolen car coming into Estevan. The vehicle was found and the driver was charged with impaired driving and taking a vehicle without consent.
Officers responded to a convenience store where a male was passed out in the bathroom. He was charged for public intoxication and lodged until sober
Police initiated a traffic stop in central Estevan which resulted in a 25-year-old male being arrested for obstructing a police officer by providing a false name, and also for driving while suspended. He will make his first court appearance in Estevan on January 27.
Police were called to a central Estevan business on the report of a suspicious person begging for money in the entrance. The male was gone on police arrival. The matter remains under investigation.
Members responded to a three-vehicle collision at an intersection in central Estevan. A westbound vehicle proceeded through a stop sign, at which time the vehicle was struck by a southbound vehicle. A third vehicle, which was eastbound, was also involved. The driver of the westbound vehicle was charged as a result for proceeding from a stop sign before safe to do so under the Traffic Safety Act. Only minor injuries reported.
Police and fire responded to a fire alarm at a south Estevan residential complex. The alarm proved to be false.
