Estevan Police Service members responded to three reports of break-and-enters on Friday. The first incident was reported from a northeast residence during the early morning hours of Friday. Extensive damage was done to the entrances and the interior of the residence. A number of items were stolen, including Christmas gifts and a big screen television. The second was also in northeast Estevan, and the third was in southeast Estevan. A big screen television and an older watch were taken in one incident; and another big screen television, a laptop computer and some alcohol were taken during the other. Police say this time of year is when incidences of break and enters tend to be more common due to families being away for the Christmas season. The public is reminded to ensure all doors remain locked, and to take steps to have residences watched if not home. Other preventative measures include installing security lights, having interior lights on timers, shoveling driveways and picking up mail. Police also advise the public to watch out for suspicious activity, and to report any such activity as soon as possible.
