The Estevan Power Tech Midget AA Panthers upped their winning streak to four games with a 4-1 victory over the Diefenbaker Thunder on December 14.
After a scoreless first period, Estevan scored three times in the second to lead 3-0. Ashley Chapman, Taylor Colbow and Jenna Kreklewich scored for the Panthers.
The Thunder scored early in the third to cut the lead to 3-1, but Estevan restored the three-goal advantage when Hailey Dukart scored a few minutes later.
Brianna Cote was in goal.
The Panthers' record is 9-4-1. They'll play their final games before Christmas when they visit the Moose Jaw Warriors on December 20, and host the Kamsack Flyers on December 21. The game versus the Flyers will be at 7:30 p.m. at Spectra Place.
The Panthers have been busy with a couple of off-ice initiatives, too.
The first one was a bake sale at the Estevan Shoppers Mall on December 11, with proceeds being directed towards the Community Hamper Association's Angel Tree program. They raised about $200 so that toys could be purchased for local young people. The baking products sold out in about an hour.
They will also be conducting a food drive during the December 21 game against Kamsack. Everyone who attends the game is asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Estevan Salvation Army's food bank. Those who do make a donation will receive free admission.
