Coalers improve to 9-0

The Bienfait Coalers' perfect record remains in tact as the Big 6 Hockey League approaches the halfway point in their schedule.

Bienfait swept a home-and-home against the Redvers Rockets, winning 5-3 in Redvers on December 13, and by the same score in Bienfait the following night. The Coalers' record is now 9-0, and they're eight points clear of the second place Oxbow Huskies.

Oxbow (5-3) is clinging to second place after a pair of defeats. They lost 3-1 to the Midale Mustangs on the 13th, and 6-1 to the Wawota Flyers on December 14.

Midale (4-3) moved up from sixth to third thanks to the win over Oxbow, and a 7-4 victory over the Arcola-Kisbey Combines on the 14th.

The Carnduff Red Devils (4-5) sit fourth. They defeated Arcola-Kisbey 7-3 on December 13, and then fell to Midale.

Arcola-Kisbey and Wawota are tied for fifth at 3-4-1, and Redvers (1-6-2) is seventh.

Teams will play their final games before Christmas from December 20 to 22. Carnduff will visit Bienfait, and Oxbow will host Redvers on the 20th. Games on the 21st will include Oxbow at Redvers, Wawota at Arcola-Kisbey and Midale at Bienfait. All of those games will start at 7 p.m.

Arcola-Kisbey will visit Wawota on December 22.

The Big 6 will resume its schedule on January 3.
