Jr. Midgets take three of four points
The Estevan Blue Rock Junior Midget Bruins had a win and a tie in their most recent league games.
Estevan tied the Regina Blues 3-3 December 14 in Regina in a game that saw each team score once in each period. Bantam call-up Josh Skjonsby scored twice, and Josh Giblett had the other goal. JJ Holma assisted on all three tallies.
Cole Barnstable was in goal.
The following day, Estevan scored three times in the first period and never looked back in an 8-0 rout of the Regina Royals. Jordan Nykiforuik had two goals and an assist, Holma scored twice and Giblett had four assists. Colein Poole, Prestin Bergin, Erik McKersie and bantam call-up Brayden Pachal also scored.
Cam Lavoie posted the shutout in goal.
The Junior Midgets' record is 4-3-1. They'll close out the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule by playing three games in three nights. They'll host Melville on December 20 at 7:45 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium, and then visit Melville the following day. Then Estevan will host the Regina Mustangs on December 22 at the Civic at 4 p.m.
The Estevan Century 21 Bantam A Bruins tied the Lumsden Lions 4-4 on December 12 in Lumsden.
The Lions had a 3-1 lead in the second period, but Estevan fought back, and tied the game midway through the third. Lumsden took the lead with four minutes to play, but Kade McMillen's goal with 12 seconds left in the game knotted the contest for a final time.
JD Gervais scored twice and had an assist for Estevan. Daymon Wanner also scored.
The tie left Estevan with a 3-4-3 record.
The Bantam A Bruins will play their final game before Christmas on December 21, when they host Moose Jaw. The game will be at 4:45 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium.
