The Estevan Apex Midget AA Bruins split recent home games in league play, as they lost 5-2 to the Weyburn Wings on December 13, but recovered to trounce the Regina Wild 7-1 on December 14.
Kaelan Holt scored late in the first period to give Estevan a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes against Weyburn, and after Weyburn scored to pull even, Kyle Salaway scored in the second to give Estevan a 2-1 advantage. But Weyburn tied the game a couple minutes after Holt's goal, and scored three times in the third period.
Tanner Tytlandsvik was in goal for Estevan.
Estevan and Regina each scored early in the first period of their game, but the Bruins notched six unanswered goals to blow out the Wild. Kyle Salaway finished with four goals and two assists, and Dylan Lay added two goals and three assists. Mitchell Morrison also scored.
Kaelan Holt had three helpers.
Landon Audet was the winning goaltender.
Estevan's record is 10-6-3. They'll close out the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule by hosting the Regina Flames on December 21 at 3 p.m. at Spectra Place.
The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins outlasted the Weyburn Wings 10-7 in a game at Spectra Place on December 16.
The Bruins gave up the first goal of the game, but scored four times in the final 10 minutes of the opening frame to lead 4-1. Weyburn fought back to tie the game in the second, but Estevan responded with three straight goals to lead 7-4. The Wings scored twice before the end of the period to pull within a goal.
Estevan outscored Weyburn 3-1 in the third, with two of Estevan's goals coming in the final two-and-a-half minutes.
Cole Fonstad had five goals and two assists, including the final two goals of the game. Brayden Pachal had three goals, and Josh Skjonsby added a goal and three assists. Preston Brodziak also scored.
Ethan Veroba was in goal.
The TS&M Bruins' record is 7-7-2. Their final games before Christmas will see them visit the Moose Jaw Warriors on December 21, and host the Swift Current Raiders on December 22 at 2:15 p.m. at Spectra Place.
The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins finished the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule with a pair of losses in Yorkton, as they dropped decisions of 7-1 on December 14 and 17-3 on December 15.
Cale Adams had Estevan's lone goal in the first game. It came midway through the first period, and briefly tied the game at 1-1. But Yorkton would score six straight goals and cruise to victory.
Justin Hertes was in goal.
Yorkton scored nine times in the first period of the second game en route to the win. Josh Romanyk scored in the second for Estevan, and Dawson Schaff had both goals in the third.
Hertes and Bryson Garton shared the goaltending duties.
Their record is 3-9-2 in league play.
The Estevan Gem Well Atom AA Bruins scored five times in the first period in a 10-4 victory over the Melville Millionaires on December 14.
Benjamin Wagstaff scored twice, and Parker Bell had a goal and two assists in the first period. Bell would score twice in each of the second and third periods to put the finishing touches on a five-goal, seven-point night.
Tayce Miller had a goal and three assists during the game. Kordel Duncan and Trey Wahl also scored for Estevan.
Layne Gilroy was in goal.
The win left Estevan with a 6-4 record.
The Atom AA Bruins were scheduled to host the Weyburn Wings on December 18 at 6:45 p.m. (Results were not available at press time). Estevan will play their final game before Christmas on December 22 against Weyburn. The game will start at 3 p.m. at Spectra Place.
