The Estevan Sharks atom and bantam water polo teams travelled to the winter provincial tournament in Saskatoon on December 7 and 8, and each team came home with a medal.

The atom Sharks went undefeated at the tournament, and captured the gold medal. They went 3-0 in the round robin, defeating Weyburn 11-1, the Regina Squids 10-5 and the Saskatoon Pirates 11-6.

Estevan then defeated the Squids 10-6 in the tournament final.

According to a team report, the Sharks played strong defence throughout the weekend, which made it tough for opponents to shoot and pass.

The bantam Sharks opened the tournament with an 11-6 loss to the Regina Red team, but recovered to defeat the Weyburn Hurricanes 8-2, and tie the Regina Blue 11-11.

Estevan lost 11-9 to a Regina team in the semi-final round, and edged Weyburn 11-9 in the bronze medal game.

Another provincial tournament will take place in the spring.
