The Estevan Apex Midget AA Bruins split two recent games in league play.
Estevan defeated the Swift Current Hurricanes 5-2 on December 7 at Spectra Place to extend their winning streak to four games and their unbeaten streak to seven. Colton Gingras and Kyle Salaway scored in the first period, and Matt Bill, Kaelan Holt and Talys Halabuza added goals in the third.
Landon Audet was in goal for Estevan.
The following day in Regina, the Bruins led the Regina Capitals 3-1 in the first period, and 4-2 after two, but the Capitals outscored Estevan 4-1 in the third to win 6-5, and snap the Bruins' streaks.
Mitchell Morrison scored Estevan's first two goals of the game; both came in the first period. Kolten Ganson, Ryley Giblett and Holt had the other goals.
Tanner Tytlandsvik was in goal.
The midget AA Bruins' record in league play is 9-5-3. They'll host the Weyburn Wings on December 13 and the Regina Wild on the 14th; both games will start at 8 p.m. at Spectra Place.
The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins went 1-2-1 at a tournament that was held in Prince Albert from December 5 to 7.
They opened the touranment with a victory via forfeit over a team from Grand Prairie, Alberta. The Alberta squad's bus broke down en route to the tournament.
Estevan's second game was a 5-5 tie against the Norman Wolves from Manitoba, and then the Bruins lost 3-1 to the North East Wolfpack, one of the top bantam teams in Saskatchewan.
Their final game was a 5-1 loss against the Humboldt Broncos.
Estevan's next action in league play is December 16, when they'll host the Weyburn Wings at 7:45 p.m. at Spectra Place.
The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins picked up three of a possible four points in a home-ice double-header against the Swift Current Broncos.
The first game was a 2-2 tie on December 7. Cody Davis scored late in the second and Cale Adams tallied in the third to give Estevan a 2-1 lead. But the Broncos scored with two second left in the third to force the tie.
Bryson Garton was in goal.
In the second game, Estevan was down 3-0 after the first period, and 3-1 after two, but the Bruins scored three times in the third for the comeback victory. Alex von Sprecken scored in the second, and Mason Srutt scored 31 seconds into the third to pull Estevan to within a goal.
Dawson Schaff scored twice in 11 seconds in the final two minutes of the third to lift Estevan to the victory.
Justin Hertes started the game. Garton was in goal for the final two periods for the victory.
Estevan has a 3-7-2 record in league play. They'll visit Yorkton December 14 and 15.
The Estevan Gem Well Atom AA Bruins went 1-2 during a trip to east-central Saskatchewan. They won 4-2 in Melville on December 6, but lost twice to the Yorkton Terriers: 4-1 on December 7 and 4-3 on December 8.
Tayce Miller, Hayden Lavoie and Benjamin Wagstaff scored in the opening 40 minutes to give Estevan a 3-0 lead over Melville. The Millionaires scored twice in the third to reduce the deficit to one, but Max Wanner put the game away with a marker in the final couple of minutes.
Parker Bell had the lone goal in the first game against Yorkton. His goal 20 seconds into the third period pulled Estevan to within a goal of Yorkton, but the Terriers pulled away with two more tallies in the third.
Tayce Miller scored twice for Estevan in the other game versus Yorkton. Conner Terness had the other goal. Estevan and Yorkton traded goals during the contest, until Yorkton scored the winner with four-and-a-half minutes remaining in the game.
Layne Gilroy was in goal for all three games.
Estevan's record in league play is 5-4. They'll host the Melville Millionaires at noon on December 14, and the Weyburn Wings at 6:45 p.m. on December 18.
