Community Futures (CF) in Saskatchewan has revealed the details for the 2014 “Just Watch Me!” video contest.
“Just Watch Me!” is open to people with self-identified disabilities or ongoing health conditions who operate businesses in rural Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The contest is run jointly by the Saskatchewan and Manitoba Community Futures organizations, and the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program (EDP).
The organizations view owning a business as a great fit for people with disabilities or health conditions. They can set their own hours, create a personalized work environment and gain a sense of control.
They encourage people to create a two-minute or a three-minute video for the contest, and to upload it to the contest's website by January 24, 2014.
The winning video in the "Just Watch Me!" contest will be chosen by a panel of judges and a public voting process. This year the judging panel will include celebrity judge Chris Thorsteinson, a Community Futures client and lead singer of the award winning country music band Doc Walker.
The contest has prize categories for both seasoned entrepreneurs and start-ups.
The winners will be announced on February 26, 2014. The video that gets the most votes wins $1,000 cash and other prizes, and the other three finalists will also receive prizes. The judges panel will select the winners for the “start-up entrepreneurs" category.
More information can be found on the contest's website.
