The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins took two of the three games that they played in a northern road trip.
Estevan opened the road trip with a 4-1 victory over the Saskatoon Stallions on October 4. Saskatoon scored three minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead; it was the first goal that Estevan has surrendered this year.
Brady Long and Josh Skjonsby responded in the first period to give Estevan a 2-1 lead. Wyatt Haux extended the lead to 3-1 in the second, and Cole Fonstad scored in the third to finish the scoring.
The Bruins continued to roll with a 7-4 win over the Saskatoon Outlaws on October 5. Hayden Cutler scored the first two goals of the game, and added an assist, while Kale Martens also had a two-goal effort. Preston Brodziak and Shae Little had three-point games, as each scored once and added two assists.
Fonstad scored Estevan's other goal.
The Bruins suffered their first loss of the season October 6 in a 4-1 defeat against the Prince Albert Raiders. Carson Benning had Estevan's lone tally – a marker late in the second period that came after Prince Albert had opened a 4-0 lead.
Ethan Veroba was in goal against the Stallions and versus Prince Albert. Jeremy Dumaine in net against the Outlaws.
Estevan's record is 4-1. They'll play their home opener against the Humboldt Broncos on October 12 at 5:15 p.m., and then they'll host the Saskatoon Generals on October 13 at noon. Both games will be at Spectra Place.
The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins opened their regular season with a 4-2 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors on October 5.
Jake Palmer scored two goals in the second period, and added an assist in the first, to pace the peewee's attack. Josh Romanyk also scored in the second. Mason Strutt scored Estevan's other goal.
Justin Hertes was the winning goalie.
The Peewee Bruins will play their home opener on Saturday, October 12 against Weyburn. Game time is at 2:45 p.m. at Spectra Place.
