The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs senior girls' volleyball team reached the final of their home tournament this year, but came up short against Oxbow.
Oxbow defeated Estevan in two straight sets in the tournament's finale. It was the only loss that ECS suffered in the tournament, which happened September 27 and 28.
ECS opened with four straight set victories in the round-robin. They defeated Radville, Midale, Yorkton Regional and the Weyburn junior team. The Elecs had a tougher game in the semi-final, against Yorkton Sacred Heart, but ECS emerged with a three-set triumph.
Marika Ehrhardt, who coaches the team alongside Sheena Summers, was pleased with how the Elecs played at the tournament. She was particularly impressed with how the veteran players for the leadership they showed to their younger teammates.
The runner-up finish was the best result the Elecs have had in four tournaments this year.
Their next competition will be at the Weyburn Comprehensive School on October 4 and 5.
