The 20th edition of the Estevan Showcase Business Expo proved to be a big draw for the community and for the vendors who were offering their products.
Thousands of people attended the event, which was held from September 27 to 29 at the Estevan Leisure Centre. Approximately 2,700 people attended the expo, with 788 on the first night, 1,283 on the second and 624 on the final day.
The 97 exhibitors who were there ensured that there would be a wide variety of products available.
Most exhibitors were located on the floor of Spectra Place, but there were displays – including cars, trucks, agriculture implements, recreational vehicles and larger booths – inside the Icon Centre and the Leisure Centre's outdoor forecourt.
Feedback from the exhibitors has proven to be excellent, said Rebecca Howie, who is the events and marketing manager for the Estevan Chamber of Commerce.
"Some were really busy," said Howie. "They can't believe how many people came out, and they had really good feedback for their sales."
Multiple exhibitors said that their sales were higher at this year's Showcase than in previous editions.
A good variety of products and merchandise was offered this year, Howie said, with kitchen supplies, bathroom products, toy companies, photographers, scent vendors, clothing companies and food business among those at Showcase. Several non-profit organizations were also on-hand to promote their services.
A few of the exhibitors had demonstrations to draw the public to their booths. Others found ways to get the public to come to them.
The business expo is a good way for businesses to market their products and services, Howie said, and it's a nice event for people to attend now that fall has arrived.
Howie said it was also beneficial to have the Collage Cultural Festival coincide with Showcase.
"The Leisure Centre looked packed, as there were lots of activities going on," said Howie.
The presence of Collage helped attract a more diverse crowd to Showcase, and it brought in some people who might not have otherwise attended the business expo.
Showcase is a project of the Chamber, the Rotary Club of Estevan and the Estevan Lions Club.
