The Estevan Police Service (EPS) will be participating in a two-day blitz focusing on traffic safety in and around school zones.
Operation Student Safety will be a province-wide initiative taking place September 10 and 11.
EPS members will be paying particular attention to motorists speeding in school zones, failing to stop at stop signs, failing to yield both to pedestrians and vehicles, failing to obey crossing guards, failing to obey school bus signs and signals and any other observed offences.
The police are asking motorists to abide by the traffic laws and be alert while children are on their way to or on their way home from school. They ask all motorists to keep streets and intersections safe for children.
There is a lot of construction activity within the City of Estevan and there are several detour routes. The EPS asks that motorists take that extra few minutes to plan their routes and arrive at their destination safely.
