*Estevan Police Service (EPS) members attended a local establishment on Sunday night on the report of a fight. Police located the involved parties and the matter is under investigation.
*Police were called to the south side of the city on Saturday on a report of an unwanted male trying to gain access to a residence. The male had fled the scene prior to police arrival. A short time later, another call was received that the same male had returned and was again trying to gain access. Police located the male operating a motor vehicle a short distance away. The Estevan male was arrested for impaired driving and was subsequently charged with trespassing, failing to provide a breath sample, having open alcohol in a vehicle and operating a vehicle without a valid license. He will appear in Estevan court later in September.
*Police were alerted to an assault that was taking place at a residence in north Estevan. Police located the involved parties and a 20-year-old Estevan female was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The male involved was also injured and did not require any treatment. The matter remains under investigation.
*Police later attended to another assault complaint at a residence in downtown Estevan. Upon arrival, police learned that the suspect fled the scene. The matter remains under investigation.
*Police located some youths who were consuming alcohol in a playpark. When dealing with the subjects, one male was suspected of giving police a false name and birth date. It was soon confirmed and the male was arrested and lodged in cells. He was charged with the alcohol offence and for obstructing a police officer. He will appear in Estevan court later in September.
*Officers were busy with stop checks due to several outdoor functions. Numerous vehicles were stopped and checked. Six alcohol violations, eight traffic offences and one possession of a controlled substance charge were handed out within a few hours.
*Police were checking motorists for sobriety on Friday night when they came across a vehicle being driven erratically. Police stopped the vehicle and learned the driver, an Estevan male, was intoxicated. He was then charged with impaired driving, and will appear in Estevan court in September.
*EPS members, Estevan Fire and Rescue Services and EMS were called to an accident at the corner of Highway 39 East and the Sawyer Safety Road on Thursday. An eastbound vehicle making a left had turn collided with a westbound vehicle traveling at a highway speed. Both vehicles in the accident were demolished, but no injuries occurred. The driver of the eastbound vehicle was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to yield the right of way when turning left. Damage to the vehicles was so extensive that it took towing crews some time to remove them from the scene. The incident also caused traffic congestion on the highway.
*Two male subjects are facing multiple charges for theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property after police were contacted about the theft of a welder from a local business. Police intercepted the subjects after they fled the scene in a vehicle. Subsequent investigation led police to other thefts involving the two subjects. As a result of a number of outstanding theft charges currently before the courts, they were remanded into custody for court on August 19. The thefts are under investigation.
*While on patrol on Tuesday, the driving actions of a motorist were noted by an officer. A stop was conducted and the driver displayed signs of impairment. Two breath samples were taken and the readings were over the legal limit. The male was charged with driving while over .08 and impaired driving.
*Police received a call through the Report Impaired Drivers line of a vehicle swerving on the road and tailgating. The vehicle was located and stopped. The smell of alcohol came from the car and the female driver exhibited signs of impairment. The driver was given a 24-hour suspension.
*Police received a complaint of bullying via a Twitter account. The matter is under investigation.
*After dealing with phone calls from a female throughout the night, police located her in a very intoxicated state in a grassy area. She was arrested for public intoxication and lodged till sober.
