The Philadelphia Soul got past the Orlando Predators 59-55 in a close game in the first round of the playoffs. Quarterback Dan Raudabaugh attempted 34 passes while completing 24 for 325 yards with six touchdowns and one interception. Philadelphia will face the Jacksonville Sharks in the conference championship game; Philadelphia lost to the Sharks 55-53 in Week 6.
Other playoff scores were: the Spokane Shock beat the Chicago Rush 69-47, the Arizona Rattlers hammered the San Jose Sabercats 59-49 and the Jacksonville Sharks got past the Tampa Bay Storm 69-62.
CFL scores from Week 6 were the Hamilton Tiger-Cats got past the Edmonton Eskimos 30-29 and the B.C. Lions beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 27-20.
In the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys beat the Miami Dolphins 24-20 in the Hall of Fame game. This year’s Hall of Fame inductees were Warren Sapp, Dave Robinson, Bill Parcells, Jonathon Ogden, Cris Carter, Curley Culp and Larry Allen.
In Major League Baseball, the San Francisco Giants took one of three games from the Tampa Bay Rays in interleague play. The Giants are in last place in the National League West.
In NASCAR, Kasey Kahne won the Gobowling.com 400; he finished ahead of Jeff Gordon. Bobby Labonte started the race in 33rd and finished the race in 19th. The next race is the Cheez it 335 at the Glenn.
In the PGA, Tiger Woods won the Bridgestone Invitational, shooting an even par 70 in the final round. This is his eighth win, tying his own record for most wins in one tournament.
In Major League Soccer, Toronto FC got past the New England Revolution 1-0 in a close game. Toronto’s record is 4-10-8 and they are in ninth place in the Eastern conference.
