Alex Neumann's incredible encounter

Bienfait's Alex Neumann (left) earned an admirer in Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx, after Sixx watched Neumann at Estevan's skate park on May 4.

Alex Neumann's first visit to Estevan's skateboard park this year provided him with an unforgettable experience.

Neumann – a double amputee who had both of his legs amputated up to the kneecaps when he was two years old – was using the skate park May 4; something that he has done on many occasions over the years. He didn't realize that one of his idols, Motley Crue bass guitarist Nikki Sixx, was watching and admiring him.

Neumann said he was approached by a man named Justin, and Justin asked if Neumann knew who Motley Crue was. Then Justin asked Neumann if he like to meet Sixx.

“He's been my idol for years, so getting to meet him was a pretty big thing for me,” said Neumann.

And Neumann found out that his idol was very easy to talk to and interact with.

“He's been a rock star of however many years, but he's just like any other person,” said Neumann. “You can talk to him about anything, really.”

Sixx described the experience on his Tumblr account, which he uses to post photographs.

“His (Alex's) personality beamed with enthusiasm when I asked if I could get some shots of him doing some tricks,” said Sixx. “We sat and talked for a while and he told me he drag races & horse back rides too.”

Neumann and Sixx went to Neumann's truck, where he showed Sixx his prosthetic legs. Sixx responded by telling Neumann that he was all heart.

“At that point he pulled back his shirt to expose a heart tattooed on his chest,” Sixx said. “I meet new people everyday and somedays I walk away and think I just wasted 20 minutes of my life. Not today. I feel inspired. Thank you Alex…”

Neumann said he's read that post on Tumblr several times now, and was touched by the words that Sixx shared on his website.
