Howard and Muirhead win players

Glen Howard won the men’s final at the Grand Slam of Curling Player’s Championships by beating Winnipeg’s Mike McEwen 4-3. Howard made a last shot double takeout to win the game. Scotland’s Eve Muirhead won the women’s final 8-5 over Margaretha Sigfridsson of Sweden. This is Muirhead’s first Grand Slam title.

In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks got past the Edmonton Rush 12-11 in a close game. The Roughnecks' final record is 9-7 and they will face the Colorado Mammoth in the first round of the playoffs.

In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers closed out the regular season with a 112-108 win over the Sacramento Kings. The Clippers' final record is 56-26 and they finished fourth in the Western Conference.

In the Arena Football League, the Philadelphia Soul lost to the Cleveland Gladiators 64-57. The Soul’s record is 2-2 and their next game is against the Jacksonville Sharks.

Other scores from Week 5 were: the Jacksonville Sharks beat the Iowa Barnstormers 40-34, the Pittsburgh Power beat the New Orleans Voodoo 46-43, the Arizona Rattlers beat the San Antonio Talons 83-40 and the Spokane Shock beat the San Jose Sabercats 69-47.

In NCAA Baseball, the Florida Gators took two of three games from the Missouri Tigers. The Gators are in third place in the South Eastern Conference's East Division.

Matt Kenseth won the NASCAR STP 400, finishing ahead of Kasey Kahne. Bobby Labonte started in 34th and finished 24th. The next race is the Toyota Owners 400.

In Major League Soccer, Toronto FC tied the Houston Dynamo 1-1. Toronto could not hold the lead against Houston. Toronto’s record is 1-2-4 and they are tied for seventh with the Chicago Fire.
