The Estevan Baxter Midget A Cougars female hockey team's season is over, as the Cougars have been knocked out of league playoffs.
The Cougars tied the host Fort Qu'Appelle Flyers 2-2 on March 18. Coupled with Fort Qu'Appelle's 5-3 win in Game 1 March 14 in Estevan, Fort Qu'Appelle won the series 7-5.
Estevan had leads of 2-0 after the first period, and 3-2 after the second in Game 1. But Fort Qu'Appelle scored three times in the opening 10 minutes of the third for the come-from-behind victory.
Rayna Gibson, Alaura Gress and Shayla Mosley scored for Estevan.
Brianna Cote was in goal for the loss.
(Goal scorers and other information for Game 2 were not available).

In addition to the games against Fort Qu'Appelle, the Cougars travelled to Saskatoon to play in the March Ice Tournament from March 15 to 17. Estevan went 0-4, losing games to Delisle, Elrose, Regina and Saskatoon.
Coach Russell Scharnatta said they played against AA teams, which is a level above the A-level teams the Cougars face in league play.
But it was a good opportunity for the team to realize the opportunities that exist for them to expand their skills, he said.
