The Rider Pride Hockey Challenge that had been scheduled for March 17 at Spectra Place has officially been cancelled.
Poor weather and treacherous road conditions forced the postponement of the game.
The game would have pitted members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders against a team of local celebrities in an exhibition hockey contest. Members of the Green and White would have served as players and coaches for the Rider team.
It was to be a fundraiser for the Estevan Football Family, which includes Penta Completions Estevan Minor Football and the Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs football team.
But due to the busy schedule of Spectra Place and other commitments of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, EMF couldn’t come up with a date for both parties that would work for this season.
The Roughriders have promised that Estevan will be included in the Rider Pride Hockey Challenge next year.
Minor football is working on another project to bring members of the Riders to Estevan later this spring.
For those who purchased advance tickets, please contact Wanda Harron at 306-634-3147 in the evening, or visit her at The House of Stationery during the day for refunds. The ticket must be handed over to receive a refund.

In other Football Family news, the annual fundraising dinner on April 13 at the Days Inn Plaza is already sold out. Receivers Weston Dressler and Geroy Simon, along with Riders head coach Geroy Simon, will be the guest speakers.
The organizing committee is waiting to hear from a couple businesses for a commitment as to whether or not they are purchasing a table for the dinner, so the committee is now accepting names for a wait list.
