Estevan Police Service members were checking vehicles for impaired driving on March 21 when a truck was stopped in a downtown parking lot. As soon as the vehicle stopped, a 19-year-old Estevan male fled the scene on foot. Police chased the male and caught him several blocks away. He was charged with impaired driving, and fleeing from police. He will appear in Estevan court in May to answer to the charges.
Police later checked another vehicle and a 21-year-old Estevan female was taken into custody for impaired driving. She will also appear in May for court.
Police then responded to a local hotel about an assault that took place. When police arrived on scene, the accused had fled and the victim had suffered minor injuries. Police learned that the altercation took place after the men had been drinking and then refused to leave the others room. Charges in the matter are pending.
Police received a call March 20 about an intoxicated male walking down the middle of the street in the city's north end. Upon police arrival a male was noted crawling down the middle of the street. The highly intoxicated male was arrested and lodged in cells until sober. He will face charges of being drunk in public, a $200 fine.
