“Figments” at ECS

A group of students from the Estevan Comprehensive School has been busy the past two months, as they have been rehearsing “Figments,” a two-act comedy that will be performed on March 21 and 22, starting at 7 p.m. each night.

“Figments” features the acting talents for 14 students. Additional students and staff members are involved with the crew.

“It's about a writer who is struggling though writer's block, and he has these figments of his imagination that are running wild, and they actually become characters on the stage at the same time as the real characters, so it's quite funny,” said ECS vice-principal Allison Holzer, who co-directs the play with Kathy Brown.

Brown said that the students have had to put in a lot of work. Many of them have dual roles.

“It's challenging for the actors to create those doubles,” said Brown. “We have a real life momma and a figment momma. And the figments go through a number of transformations where their characters change.”

The play runs for about two hours, and there will be a brief intermission.

Tickets will be available at the door.
