The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins dropped a 6-5 decision in the opening game of their best-of-three consolation quarter-final series with the Melville Millionaires.
Estevan led 3-1 early in the second, but Melville fought back to tie the game. Then the Bruins led 5-4 after two periods, but Melville scored twice in the third for the victory.
Peyton Stevenson led Estevan's attack with two goals and two assists. Kolten Ganson, Matthew Bill and Brayden Pachal also scored.
Carter Phair was in goal for the loss.
Estevan will visit Melville on March 8. Game 3, if necessary, will be March 10.
The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins defeated the Swift Current Broncos 5-1 in Game 1 of their best-of-three series March 3 in Swift Current.
Carson Benning had a natural hat trick, scoring three times in a four-and-a-half-minute span of the second period to give Estevan a 3-0 lead. Swift Current cut the deficit to 3-1 with a goal a minute after Benning's third tally, but Kersey Reich re-established the three-goal advantage before the end of the middle frame.
Cole Fonstad scored for Estevan late in the third to finish off the scoring.
Cody Levesque was in goal for the victory.
Game 2 will be March 9 in Estevan at 3:15 p.m. at Spectra Place. Game 3, if necessary, will be March 10 in Swift Current.
