The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins raised more than $20,000 for Estevan's new outdoor rink during a special jersey auction.
A live auction on February 22 – featuring the jerseys of the Bruins' captain, alternate captains, local players and a couple other players – raised $16,050. Local product Tanner Froese's jersey accounted for $8,500 of the total.
An on-line silent auction featuring the jerseys of the other members of the team brought in more than $4,000.
The money will be directed to the new outdoor arena, which will be located in the Kinsmen playpark in Estevan's Hillside subdivision. The rink will boast a regulation ice surface, boards and other amenities.
