The Estevan Power Dodge Chargers Bantam A provincial female hockey team defeated the Regina Riot 3-2 to win Game 1 of their two-game, total-goal series.
Kailey McLellan, Megan LeBlanc and Hannah Battersby were the goal scorers for Estevan.
Tamara Irwin was in goal.
Game 2 will be played in Regina on March 3. The winner of the series will advance to the provincial final.
The Chargers are comprised of players from the Power Dodge Chargers and the Estevan Dayman Trucking Bantam A Bulldogs.

In South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League (SSFHL) play, the Power Dodge Chargers finished first with a 22-1-3 record, and enjoyed a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
The Bulldogs were 19-3-4, which left them in third place. They'll play the Weyburn Angels in the opening round of the playoffs in a two-game, total-goal series.
Estevan's will host the Angels on Saturday, March 2, at 4:45 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium.

The Estevan Baxter Midget A Cougars lost 3-2 to the Fort Qu'Appelle Flyers in Game 1 of a two-game, total-goal provincial series February 24 at Spectra Place.
Fort Qu'Appelle was leading 2-0 midway through the third period when Rayna Gibson scored for Estevan on a penalty shot. Brooklyn Dukart tied the game with an unassisted goal moments later.
The Flyers took back the lead late in the third period.
Game 2 will be played March 3 in Fort Qu'Appelle.

The Cougars finished the regular season with a 13-7-4 record, which left them fifth in the SSFHL's Midget A division. They'll play the Regina Avalanche in the first round. Estevan defeated the Avalanche twice late in the regular season.
The dates for the series between Estevan and the Avalanche have yet to be determined.
