Estevan Police Service weekend report

 

 

*Estevan Police Service members were called to two domestic disturbances on February 24. The first incident was dealt with when one of the parties left for the evening. The second incident involved alcohol and one of the subjects was arrested and lodged in cells. An investigation into an assault is being looked into.

 

*Police arrested and lodged a 35-year-old male for breaching a conditional sentence order. He is also facing further charges of theft under $5,000, stemming from an investigation at a local business. He appeared in provincial court on February 25.

 

*An 18-year-old female is facing charges for suspended driving after police located her operating a motor vehicle on the north end. The vehicle she was operating has been seized for 30 days.

 

*A 30-year-old male was charged with suspended driving and his vehicle was seized for 30 days, after police located him operating his vehicle on the north end. He was also charged with theft under $5,000, stemming from an investigation at a local business. He will make a court appearance April 1.

 

*Police responded to a domestic violence complaint in the northern part of Estevan. The matter is still under investigation.

 

*Officers responded to a domestic violence complaint in the central area. Upon arrival, members were able to resolve the situation.

 

*Police were called to an accident on Kensington Avenue when a vehicle made a left hand turn in front of southbound traffic, causing both vehicles to suffer extensive damage. No injuries were reported, but both vehicles needed to be towed.

 

*Police received a call about an open 911 line from the provincial 911 system on February 23. The 911 operator could hear whimpering noises on the other end. The call was generated from a cellular phone, which was pinpointed to an area on the east side of the city. An extensive search of the area and local residences did not turn up anyone, nor any problems.

 

*Police were called to two separate disturbances at a local lounge within minutes of each other. Neither incident was related, however, the matters were dealt with and responsible persons sent on their way.

 

*Estevan police assisted the Carlyle RCMP in locating a subject that had been involved in an accident in their area. This matter is being looked into further by both the Carlyle detachment and the EPS.

 

*Police also received a report of a stray dog at large in the Westview area. The dog’s owner was located.

 

*Police were called to an apartment complex when an unknown male entered the lobby and began ringing several buzzers, trying to enter the building. The subject was located and transported to shelter.

 

*A 30-year-old male has been charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08, after police noted him leaving a local lounge when the bar was closing. His court date is set for March 25.

 

*Police received a complaint of suspicious noise and activity in an alley in the Westview area. Members attended and did not locate anyone in the area.

 

*Police responded to an accident in the 400 block of King Street. One vehicle needed to be towed away from the scene.

 

*A 19-year-old male is facing several charges after police conducted a traffic stop February 22 on the vehicle he was operating. The accused subject was a prohibited driver and lied to police about his identity. In addition, the accused had been drinking and when police learned of his true identity, they also determined he was on probation with conditions. He has been charged with obstructing a peace officer, impaired driving, driving while over .08, prohibited driving and breaching his probation order. In addition, police seized the vehicle he was operating for minimum of 30 days. He was lodged in cells for the evening until sober, and was taken before a justice of the peace February 23. His court date will be set for March 25th.

 

*Police also arrested a 22-year-old male, who was also on conditions, after they located him using cocaine near a local nightclub. He is facing breach charges and was lodged in cells until sober. The matter surrounding his cocaine use remains under investigation.

 

*Another 19-year-old male had his driver’s license suspended for 30 days after police conducted a traffic stop as he left a local nightclub. The subject was a novice driver. A roadside screening test revealed recent alcohol consumption which led to the suspension.

 

*Police attended a domestic disturbance at a local hotel. One of the subjects left for the evening. This matter is still being investigated.

 

*A hit-and-run accident was reported to police. A vehicle entered an alley in the central area of the city and struck the fence of a local business. Significant damage occurred to both the vehicle and the fence. The operator of the vehicle fled the scene, and did not report the matter. The vehicle has been seized and the matter remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

 

*Police attended to an alarm call at a residence on the north end of the city. The female subject who was home alone was concerned that someone was in her residence. When police attended they determined that nobody was there and the alarm was faulty.

 

*Police are looking into a willful damage which occurred to a vehicle in the parking lot at Spectra Place. The damage occurred during a Bruins hockey game. This matter is being looked into. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
