The City of Estevan is refuting rumours that iconic band KISS is coming to Estevan.
The reports surfaced Thursday morning after Estevan appeared on a list of upcoming concerts on the website www.genesimmons.com. The listed Estevan concert would have been on Wednesday, July 17.
"KISS is not coming to Estevan," said City of Estevan events manager Garth Forster. "There is absolutely no truth to the rumours that have been making their way around on Twitter, Facebook and everywhere else today."
Estevan would have been one of three stops in Saskatchewan, along with Moose Jaw and Saskatoon. The tour had 25 cities listed, including 19 in Canada.
But the tour list also cited a concert in Cadot, Manitoba, a community that, according to Google, does not exist.
Forster said there have not been any discussions for a concert in Estevan, and he doesn't know where the rumours started.
"We consider it a privilege that KISS would consider coming to Spectra Place," said Forster.
He said he doubts that any other location that could accommodate KISS. He doesn't know how expensive it would be to bring the legendary rock group to the Energy City, but he expects it would be a pricey show, and that there could be other logistical challenges with their stage and their set-up.
Forster said there will be a major announcement for a concert in Estevan on Monday morning, but it won't involve KISS.
