Estevan Police Service members were kept busy with several accidents February 17 due to the icy conditions. Also, a semi was stopped on the Highway 39 overpass at the east edge of Estevan. He could not drive up the overpass, and traffic was held up until he chained up.
Police were called to the core area for a domestic dispute involving alcohol. A female was arrested and lodged in cells until she was sober.
Police were called to a local motel due to an intoxicated female. Police and EMS arrived and the female was transported to the hospital and put under a physician's care.
While on patrol, police witnessed a male subject stumbling down the street. In talking to the subject, he became belligerent and was arrested for public intoxication and kept in cells for his own safety.
Police responded to a single vehicle accident in the 800 block of King Street on February 16. A westbound vehicle lost control at a high rate of speed, went up onto the sidewalk through a hedge, and came to rest against a light standard. The vehicle sustained damage and was towed from the scene. The light post suffered minor damage. The driver was charged with driving without due care and attention.
Officers responded to a fight at a local bar. One of the combatants was located. He had several marks on him but declined to press charges. While at the scene, another patron stepped out of the bar with an open container of alcohol. He was charged under the Alcohol Gaming Regulations Act for having open alcohol in a location other than a private place.
Police received a report of a person sleeping in an entry to a building. He said that he just stopped to warm up as he was walking home.
