Rehearsals are progressing well for St. John the Baptist Parish's upcoming performance of “Solomon, the Musical,” according to director Stacy Grunert.
The cast has been rehearsing their lines every Sunday since early January. Dance practices have been taking place each Monday night. Grunert said that Sharlene Holliday has been travelling to Estevan to help with the dance choreography.
The play will be performed on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Estevan. Each showing starts at 7:30 p.m. Dessert will be served after each performance.
“It's telling the story of Solomon from the Bible,” said Grunert.
About 50 people are involved with the production, between the cast members, the crew and the pit band. The production features music, dancing, drama and comedy.
“Solomon the Musical,” was written by Dennis and Nan Allen of Allen House Productions. It features many of the characters who played a pivotal role in the life of the great Israeli king, who was renowned for his wisdom.
Dustin Hall is in the lead role of King Solomon.
