The Baltimore Ravens got past the San Francisco 49ers to win Super Bowl XLVII 34-31. The Ravens were in control of the game until the second half. Wide receiver Jacoby Jones returned a kickoff 108 yards to open the second half. The power soon went out at the Super Dome, which caused a 34-minute delay in the game. The 49ers came back to make the game close. This is the Ravens’ second Super Bowl title; their first one came in 2001. Ravens’ quarterback Joe Flacco was named the game’s MVP.
In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks beat the Edmonton Rush18-15. The Roughnecks’ record is 3-2 and they are leading the West Division.
In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Boston Celtics 106-104. They also lost to the Toronto Raptors 98-73. The Clippers are in third place in the Western Conference.
In NCAA Basketball, the No. 4 Florida Gators beat the Ole Miss Rebels 78-64. The Gators’ record is 18-2 overall and 8-0 in conference play.
In the NHL, the Ottawa Senators lost to the Montreal Canadiens 2-1. The Sens also lost to the Carolina Hurricanes 1-0 in another close game.
In the WHL, the Regina Pats split a home and home with the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Pats are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
In the OHL, the Windsor Spitfires split a home and home with the Guelph Storm. The Spitfires are in ninth place in the Western Conference.
In the English Premier League, Manchester United got past Fulham 1-0. Man U’s record is 20-3-2 and they are still leading the league.
