Midget A Bruins eliminated from provincials

The Estevan Sherritt Coal Midget A Bruins' reign as the provincial champions came to an end, as they lost 5-4 to Swift Current in a two-game, total-goal series.

Dayton Westerman had the only goal for Estevan in Game 1. His marker came with seven-and-a-half minutes to play in the third period, and brought the Bruins to within a goal. But Swift Current scored the final goal of the game a few minutes later.

Ryan Kenzie was the goalie.

Estevan outshot Swift Current 55-25 in Game 2, but could only come away with a 3-2 win in that contest, which left them one goal short for the series.

Brandon Hutt, Austin Orsted and Colton Gingras were the goal scorers.

Landon Audet was in goal for Estevan.

The Midget A Bruins were comprised of players from Estevan's midget house team and the Junior Midget squad.

***

The Estevan Canadian Tire Bantam A Bruins and the Weyburn Hitmen played to a 3-3 tie on January 30.

Kyle Hertes, Shae Little and Prestin Bergen had the goals for Estevan. The teams were tied at 1-1 after the first period, and the score remained the same after the second. Each team scored twice in the third.

Ethan Veroba was in goal for the draw.

Game 2 will be February 7 in Weyburn.
