Estevan Police Service members were busy with a variety of incidents and calls in late January and early February.
Police went to check a vehicle on Friday night that had left in the parking lot of a local establishment. The vehicle initially failed to stop for police. After several blocks, the vehicle stopped and a 60-year-old Estevan resident was arrested for impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample. He will appear in Estevan court in March.
Police checked another vehicle and located a small amount of marijuana. A 24-year-old B.C. male was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was released on bail and appeared in court February 4 to answer to the charges.
Officers observed an Estevan male, who is known to police, in a moving vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, and the male fled from the vehicle on foot. After a short chase the male was apprehended and placed in custody. He faces numerous charges and was also wanted for some outstanding warrants. He will appear in Estevan Court on February 4.
Police also seized a large amount of cocaine as part of an ongoing investigation. The street value of the drugs is in the $100,000 range. The matter continues to be under investigation. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
Members were dispatched on Thursday to a report of a domestic dispute in the southwest area of Estevan. The male and female who live in the residence were arguing, and alcohol was a factor. A 24-year-old Estevan female was arrested and lodged in cells. She will be released once sober.
A 34-year-old old Estevan male was arrested for driving while disqualified. The male was released after being charged, and he was also given a 24-hour driving suspension.
A 52-year-old Estevan male was arrested and lodged in cells after he was located passed out in the lobby of a hotel in the east-central area of Estevan. The male will be released once he is sober.
Police responded to a hotel in the west-central area of Estevan due to a report of a loud disagreement. Two males were located in one of the rooms and evidently an altercation had taken place. Both males were warned about their actions. No further action was required.
A request was received from a bar in the downtown area of Estevan to patrol the area for intoxicated people. Several patrols were made of the area without locating anybody who was intoxicated.
The staff of a hotel in the north central area of Estevan requested assistance with several loud individuals. A male and a female were located and spoken to about their actions. The male returned to his room, while the female was transported to a residence at her request.
Police were dispatched January 30 to a residence in the north-central area of Estevan in response to a 911 call. Upon arrival, a female owner of the residence requested assistance with an ongoing dispute with her tenants. Officers mediated the discussion. The matter was resolved without any further action required.
Significant damage to a truck was reported. The damage was caused by running a key or another sharp object across the paint job of the truck. Numerous derogatory statements were scratched into the paint of the vehicle. This matter is under investigation.
A vehicle was entered while parked in the downtown area of Estevan. A purse was removed from the vehicle. This matter is under investigation.
Police responded to a report of a disturbance at a pub in the northeast area of Estevan. Upon arrival, the suspects had left already. No further action was required.
A report of a male attempting to gain entry into a residence in the south-central area of Estevan was received. Officers attended and the male had already left the area.
A 35-year-old male from Alberta was arrested for breach of his conditions. The male was later released after being charged for the breach, as well as violating the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act.
Members were dispatched to a residence in the south-central area of Estevan in response to a dispute between two females and a male. The matter was resolved without any charges.
