Two gifted young musicians from southeast Saskatchewan – Darian King of Bienfait and Molly Fogarty of North Portal – are among the six who have been chosen to be part of the Big Gig contest that is being offered by SaskMusic.
Both are well known to local music fans, as they have performed at different competitions and events in the region.
Also chosen was Radville's Lexie Tytlandsvik, who is a former winner of the Estevan Junior Idol contest.
The Big Gig is a music talent search for high school students from across southern Saskatchewan. It's one of the events being organized to celebrate the Juno Awards coming to Regina in April.
Bands and solo performers submitted their videos for the Big Gig. From there, the top 10 entries were selected to perform live during the finals, which were held January 19 at O'Neill High School in Regina.
The six finalists were chosen and they will each receive a professional recording session to produce two demo songs, which will be included on a compilation CD.
They will also receive a session with a professional music coach, and perform at a special event at the University of Regina's Fine Arts Theatre April 17 during JUNO week.
