It was a celebration of Scottish culture and the life of the great Scottish poet Robert Burns during the annual Burns Night celebrations January 26 at the Estevan Royal Canadian Legion.
The Estevan PPCLI Army Cadet Corps hosted the festivities. Lance Corporal Shelly Guertin-Schmidt recapped Bruns' personal milestones, and discussed some of his famous writings, such as “Auld Lang Syne,” “Scots Wha Hae,” “A Man's a Man for A' That,” and “To a Mouse.”
Entertainment was provided by the Estevan Elks PPCLI Army Cadet Pipes and Drums band and the Drewitz School of Dance's Highland dancers.
The Estevan Elks also announced a donation of $3,000 to the pipe band, which represents the Elks' sponsorship of the band for another year.
