The Bienfait Coalers still have four games remaining, but they have already clinched top spot in the Big 6 Hockey League's regular season standings.
Bienfait sewed up the regular season title, and the No. 1 seed for the playoffs, with a 12-6 win over the Carnduff Red Devils on January 29. Bienfait (15-2) has 30 points, which is one more than the Midale Mustangs (14-6-1), but Midale has already finished its regular season schedule.
Third place Carnduff (10-6-1) sits third with 21 points and four games remaining. The most they can finish with is 29 points.
The Wawota Flyers (10-7) are fourth with 20 points. The Arcola-Kisbey Combines (8-9-1) are fifth with 17 points, two more than the Redvers Rockets (7-9-1). But Redvers has a game in hand on Carnduff.
The Oxbow Huskies (4-11-1) are seventh with nine points, and the Carlyle Cougars (2-11-1) are eighth with five. Carlyle has the most remaining games with six.
The two teams were slated to square off January 30 in Carlyle. (Results were not available at press time).
Two games are scheduled for February 1: Bienfait at Wawota, and Carnduff at Carlyle. The games slated for February 2 are Arcola-Kisbey at Carnduff, Carlyle at Oxbow and Wawota at Redvers.
Bienfait visits Carnduff and Oxbow hosts Arcola-Kisbey on February 5. And Oxbow travels to Wawota and Bienfait is at Carlyle on February 6.
