Peewee AA Bruins win series

The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins have advanced to the second round of provincials.
Estevan defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors 14-9 in a two-game, total-goal series. They won Game 2 8-4 on January 15 in Caronport. The win came nearly two weeks after Estevan had defeated Moose Jaw 6-5 in Game 1.
Ryder Pierson, Cole Fonstad, JD Gervais and Colton Schell each scored twice for Estevan in Game 2.
Cody Levesque was the winning goaltender.
Estevan will play the Yorkton Terriers in the next round of provincials.
The Peewee AA Bruins lost twice against undefeated Yorkton in league play recently.
In the first game January 12, Estevan lost 6-4. The Bruins trailed 4-1, but pulled within a goal to make the score 4-3. And after Yorkton took a 5-3 lead, Estevan pulled within a goal again, and had chances to tie. Yorkton finished the scoring with an empty net goal.
Fonstad scored three times, and Carson Benning had the other goal.
Estevan took a 2-0 lead in the first period in their second game against Yorkton, on goals by Benning and Fonstad, but Yorkton rattled off three straight goals to finish the period.
Mason Strutt tied the game early in the second, but Yorkton scored four times during a seven-minute span in the second to pull away.
Levesque was in goal for both games.
Estevan's record is 4-8-1 in league play.
They'll play the Melville Millionaires on January 19 at 2:30 p.m., and January 20 at 3:15 p.m. Both games will be at Spectra Place.
The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins lost 8-1 to Swift Current on January 13. Joshua Skjonsby scored for Estevan less than six minutes into the game to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead, but Swift Current scored eight unanswered goals.
Cameron Lavoie was the goalie for Estevan.
The Bantam AA Bruins have a 7-9-2 record. They'll host the Weyburn Wings on January 18 at 7:30 p.m., and the Regina Silver Foxes on January 19 at 5:15 p.m.
The Estevan Apex Midget AA Bruins have been eliminated from provincial play, as they lost 10-5 to the Weyburn Wings in a two-game, total-goal first round series.
Weyburn won Game 1 6-1 on January 12, and the teams tied 4-4 on January 16.
Weyburn scored four times in the third to take a 6-0 lead in Game 1. Tyson Price scored with 16 seconds left in the game for Estevan's lone goal.
Estevan took a 2-0 lead in Game 2 on goals by Blaine Herzberg and Marc Shaw. Weyburn scored twice in the second to tie the game, and restore their five-goal lead in the series, and added another goal early in the third. Kyle Salaway and Steven Henderson then scored for Estevan to give the Bruins a 4-3 lead in the game, but Weyburn tallied late in the period to finish off the scoring.
Levi Eiteneier was in goal for both games.
The Midget AAs will return to action in league play when they visit the Notre Dame Hounds on January 19 and the Regina Flames on January 20.
