The North Dakota State Bison have won their second straight national championship, as they beat the Sam Houston State Cowboys 39-13 in a rematch from last year’s national title game. The Bison won all of their other playoffs to get to the title game, and they finished with a final record of 14-1.
In the NFL playoffs, the Houston Texans beat the Cincinnati Bengals 19-13 in the wildcard round. The Texans will now face the New England Patriots.
Other scores from wildcard round were: the Seattle Seahawks beat the Washington Redskins 21-14, the Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings 24-10 and the Baltimore Ravens beat the Indianapolis Colts 24-9.
At the Spangler Cup, Team Canada won their 12th tournament title in its history, beating HC Davos 7-2 in the final. This is Canada’s first title since 2007.
In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Golden State Warriors 115-94 in a one-sided game. The Clippers record is 27-8 and they are first place in the Pacific Division.
In NCAA Basketball, the No. 13 Florida Gators beat the Yale Bulldogs 79-59. The Gators’ record is 10-2 and they are in third place in the South Eastern Conference.
In the WHL, the Regina Pats beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-1 in a one-sided game. It was the Pats’ fifth straight win, and they are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
In the OHL, the Windsor Spitfires lost to the Sarnia Sting 8-5. The Spitfires outshot the Sting 43-37. Windsor is in ninth place in the Western Conference.
In the English Premier League, Manchester United tied West Ham United 2-2 and they also beat Wigan Athletic 4-0. Man U’s record is 17-3-1 and they are leading the league.
