Amber Alert cancelled

The Amber Alert that was issued Thursday morning for a missing girl from the Maple Creek area was lifted on Thursday evening.

The alert was issued after a 16-year-old youth allegedly forcibly removed a 14-year-old girl from her home. The girl is eight months pregnant.

Family members of the 16-year-old male brought both teens to the Swift Current Rural RCMP Detachment on Thursday evening.

Both the 16-year-old and 14-year-old are safe at the RCMP detachment.  Neither required medical treatment.

The 16-year-old male was taken into custody and the 14-year-old female is currently with the RCMP.

Once investigators were able to speak with the 14-year-old, they were able to determine she was no longer at risk. At that point, the Amber Alert was cancelled.
