Police report

*Estevan Police Service officers responded to a collision in east-central Estevan on December 31, which resulted in a 22-year-old male being charged with driving at an unreasonable and unsafe speed under the Traffic Safety Act. He was also charged for unlawfully having tint on his front side windows under the Vehicle Equipment Regulations Act. No injuries occurred in the collision.

*A number of other traffic-related offences occurred which resulted in charges.

*A 27-year-old male was arrested and charged for assaulting a police officer after an altercation at a local nightclub on December 29. The male was lodged in cells until sober. He will make a court appearance on February 4. A 23-year-old female was arrested and lodged for public intoxication during the same incident. She was released once she was sober, and charged accordingly.

*An 18-year-old female was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance December 28, after police conducted a traffic stop on her vehicle. A quantity of marijuana was located in the vehicle. She will make a court appearance in Estevan on January 28. She also had a number of outstanding warrants from Moose Jaw. She will appear in court in that city on January 21.

*Police are looking into a complaint involving some harassing and threatening text messages. The suspect has been contacted.

*Sometime between December 28 and 30, a vehicle that was parked near a central Estevan business was entered. Considerable damage was done to the vehicle as a result. The matter remains under investigation. 

*Police were notified of an impaired driver heading towards Estevan on Christmas Eve. Officers stopped the vehicle, and a 28-year-old male was arrested and charged for impaired driving. He is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on January 28.

*Officers were alerted by a concerned citizen that some people were stealing merchandise from a local business prior to Christmas. Police attended and learned that the people had left the area prior to police arrival. Police were able to speak with the witness and view surveillance video, and obtained a description of the suspects. Police then located the suspects a short time later. A 41-year-old Ontario woman and a 36-year-old Ontario male were arrested. All the items were recovered and both suspects face numerous charges for theft, breach of conditions, and possession of stolen property.
