Awaken and Prepare Us

Members of the Southeast Chorus and the Northwest Chorus and Orchestra performed “Awaken and Prepare Us” during a dress rehearsal on December 1 at St. Paul's United Church in Estevan.

The Southeast Chorus and the Northwest Chorus and Orchestra teamed up December 1 and 2 to perform their annual celebration of Christmas music. This year it was named “Awaken and Prepare Us.”

The first performance was on December 1 at St. Paul's United Church in Estevan, and the second show was December 2 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Crosby, N.D.

The first half of the show featured a variety of Christmas choral music. Some of the songs formed a narrative to tell the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. Some of the songs were audience favourites, others weren't quite as well-known.

The second half featured a blend of Christmas songs, including religious, a cappella and rhythm selections.

Several members of the choirs showcased their singing talents through solos. Other displayed their instrumental skills.

The musicians were once again under the direction of Ed Retzer. Harlan Johnson was the co-director. Both are from Crosby. Danielle Evenson of Estevan was the primary piano accompanist. Vicki Lee of Crosby was the secondary accompanist.
